Float Glass Line

We supply float glass line equipment — tin bath systems, annealing lehrs, cutting lines, and glass handling for flat glass manufacturing in the UAE and GCC.

Float Glass Line

Float glass — the standard method for producing flat glass — uses a molten tin bath to create a perfectly flat ribbon that is then annealed and cut to size. The UAE's construction boom has driven significant demand for flat glass — windows, facades, and glazing systems — with local float glass production augmented by imports. Float glass plants are capital-intensive but serve the entire downstream glass processing industry. We supply float glass equipment.

What we supply

  • Tin bath (float chamber) — thermal insulation, atmosphere control, forming equipment
  • Annealing lehr — multi-zone controlled cooling for stress relief
  • On-line coating (CVD) equipment for solar control and low-E coatings
  • Cutting line — transverse and longitudinal cutters, breaking and sorting
  • Glass handling — conveyors, stacking, and automatic crating
  • Cullet return system — off-cut and broken glass recycling
  • Plant control and thickness measurement systems

How the project proceeds

  1. Define the glass composition, thickness range, and production capacity
  2. Engage with float technology licensor; procure equipment within and adjacent to the licence boundary
  3. Source ancillary equipment from qualified manufacturers
  4. Support furnace and float line startup with specialist commissioning personnel

Why Infinity

Float glass technology is licenced — Pilkington, AGC, Guardian, and a small number of others hold the core technology. We supply ancillary equipment (annealing lehr, cutting line, handling, plant services) within the procurement scope that sits outside the core technology licence.

How does float glass thickness control work?

Glass ribbon thickness is controlled by the drawing speed (lehr pull speed) and edge rollers in the tin bath — thinner glass is produced by increasing pull speed. We supply lehr drive and edge roller equipment.

Do you supply CVD coating equipment for low-E glass production?

Yes — chemical vapour deposition (CVD) coating systems for low-emissivity (low-E) glass production are available; this technology is installed on the float line between the tin bath and lehr.

Can you supply glass cutting automation for a new cutting line?

Yes — automated cutting table systems with pattern optimisation software and robotic handling for float glass cutting are available.
