Seawater intake and brine outfall are the interface between the desalination plant and the marine environment — and a major focus of environmental regulation in the UAE and GCC. Proper intake screening prevents marine organism entrainment; correctly designed diffusers ensure concentrate dilution to acceptable marine discharge limits.
