Intake & Outfall Systems

We supply seawater intake and concentrate outfall equipment for desalination plants — travelling screens, pumps, diffusers, and corrosion-resistant piping systems for GCC coastal installations.

Intake & Outfall Systems

Seawater intake and brine outfall are the interface between the desalination plant and the marine environment — and a major focus of environmental regulation in the UAE and GCC. Proper intake screening prevents marine organism entrainment; correctly designed diffusers ensure concentrate dilution to acceptable marine discharge limits. We supply the equipment that makes this interface work reliably.

What we supply

  • Coarse bar screens and fine screens for intake screening
  • Travelling band screens — vertical and inclined configurations
  • Screen wash water systems and debris handling
  • Seawater lift pumps — large-capacity vertical mixed-flow and axial pumps
  • Submarine pipelines and diffuser systems for concentrate discharge
  • HDPE and GRP piping for corrosive seawater service
  • Marine growth prevention systems (MGPS) — copper anode and electrolytic

How the project proceeds

  1. Define the intake design flow, screening requirement, and outfall dispersion requirement
  2. Select screen type, pump configuration, and diffuser design
  3. Source equipment certified for marine seawater service
  4. Support installation and marine commissioning

Why Infinity

Marine intake and outfall equipment operates in highly corrosive conditions — seawater, UV exposure, marine fouling, and in some locations, high sediment loads. We source equipment specifically rated for marine service, with material certifications and corrosion protection appropriate for the Gulf environment.

What materials are used for seawater pump impellers and casings?

Super duplex stainless steel (SAF 2507) or bronze/nickel aluminium bronze are standard for seawater pump internals, depending on chloride concentration and velocity.

Do you supply jellyfish barrier systems for intake protection?

Yes — jellyfish barrier nets and screens for intake protection against bloom events — a recurring issue in the Arabian Gulf — are available.

Can you supply GRP piping for submarine outfall?

Yes — GRP piping systems rated for seawater service and burial in marine sediments are available for concentrate outfall pipelines.
